The Akada Children’s Book Festival (ACBF) is the first and largest Nigerian book festival dedicated exclusively to children’s literature. The annual event, now in its seventh year, provides a platform for the work of indigenous authors; improves access to children’s story books; promotes literacy and sparks a love of reading from an early age. The theme for this year is ‘Book An Adventure’. Featuring read-aloud opportunities for the whole family, including author-led book readings, book chats, story time sessions, book exhibitions, and the exciting announcements of the winners of the annual writing and illustration competitions and the Convener’s Prize for Children’s Book of the Year. Attendees can also enjoy sip and paint sessions, an art exhibition, as well as drama and musical presentations. Insightful sessions are included for parents and teachers, alongside professional workshops tailored for writers, illustrators, and publishers.
