Since its founding in 2001, the International Literature Festival Berlin (ILB) takes place each year in autumn, bringing together more than 100 international authors in 120 events for book premieres, readings and panel discussions. The ILB addresses a broad audience, opens spaces for new connections and aims to broaden horizons. The Program is curated for adults, while the Young Program addresses young people and children. The festival welcomes around 25,000 visitors every year. Since 2024, an international selection committee is appointing a writer to be Curator in Residence at ILB. In this role, they work together closely with the ILB team for a year, curate a part of the program and develop a festival motto for the respective festival edition.
