Firle, Lewes, United KingdomCharleston Festival is one of the oldest and most prestigious interdisciplinary festivals in the world with around 100 speakers and 40 events staged over 10 days. It celebrates the creativity, intellectual curiosity, radicalism and openness of the artists, writers and thinkers of the Bloomsbury group who all gathered at Charleston and dared to imagine society differently.

The Association is entirely egalitarian, with no hierarchy/board. It is run by the members themselves, moderated initially by the Emirates Literature Foundation. The Emirates Literature Foundation will cover the administration and set up costs for the Global Association of Literary Festivals, in the spirit of friendship, for the first four years (established May 2020). Through a mutual recognition of the power of literature, the Association promotes an appreciation of different cultures, facilitating understanding and building bridges across countries and communities and recognising areas where we can all work in a smarter, more connected way
The Global Association of Literary Festivals is committed to the protection and privacy of its members and follows international best practices not to share any private or personal information without an individual’s consent. The Association aims to document all its events and conferences and to share content on social media and in highlights videos. By attending one of our conferences and events, you consent to your voice and likeness being used without compensation in recordings and still images by the Association.
