On April 15, 2023, the 11th annual San Antonio Book Festival will feature 100+ authors and their newly published books, bringing books to life through author presentations, stimulating panel discussions, and book sales and signings. Readers and writers unite at this “Fiesta of the mind,” a family-friendly event that gives center stage to books and elevates our city as a literary destination. Over its 10-year history, SABF has presented 979 authors from across the nation and distributed more than 10,000 books to students at the Festival and in low-income schools, motivating more of San Antonio’s citizens to develop a love for books. SABF’s educational initiative is Authors in Schools, which pairs festival writers with underserved schools across Bexar County for free presentations to encourage a love of reading and gifts each student with a free, signed book. The Get Lit Author Series helps SABF stay relevant throughout the year, bringing authors to communities outside of the annual festival. The newest program is Lit Happens, a block party for book lovers aged 21 and up meant to build an audience to grow with SABF.
